*VINTAGE FASHION SHOW * summer 2008

Thank you to everyone who helped make this show so awesome! It all started Saturday morning when Anna Kessie, my cuz Robin and I were having one of our 'Vintage Clothing Sales' and we casually threw the idea around of having a fashion show the following Thursday. We then asked customers if they wanted to model in the show and after they told their friends we had 16 models and a total of 51 outfits in the show.
We sent out a mass text and made flyers in hopes that someone would come. Then the amazing MARK LEE came and took some pictures at the show. Lo and behold, he turned the event into a High Fashion shin-dig! Check out the MASTERS' handy work I found on www.holladayphoto.com. Here are 2 of the pictures from the event.

The model above is Angie wearing a 'Jackie Kontoes' original. This is my 'Lucy' dress.

The pic below is of 10th grader Kallie Hancock wearing a 'Delmer Vintage' dress. Delmer Vintage is Anna & Zane Kessie's vintage clothing line. They sell on eBay if you would like to check out their threads. I am 28 and Kallie is 14... she is exactly half my age and yet SHE is my idol! SHE RIPS!!!!!!

Thanks again everyone for coming and helping. We should have a bigger one in Sept!

Here are a few behind the scenes pics:

'Bachelor' Matt Grant officially a bachelor again!

Jul 25, 2008, 11:48 AM | by Mandi Bierly

Bachelormattshayne_l British Bachelor Matt Grant and his fiancée/"Monkey," Shayne Lamas, have finally acknowledged their split. We'd like to help them remember the "good" times. After the jump, a trip down memory lane, courtesy of our Mini TV Watches.

March 18: And then we come to Shayne, the actress from Malibu, who only falls into the could-be-crazy category because she thought she needed to tell us that it's really no big deal that her dad is Lorenzo Lamas.

March 25: The second group date found the other seven girls accompanying Matt on his first trip to Sin City. Kelly, who always seems to be slurring her words (read: drunk), won some alone time with Matt by being the best gambler. This pissed off Shayne, as did Matt choosing to spend time with anyone who wasn't her. I feel like we missed the beginning of Shayne's tantrum, but cameras caught up with her in time to hear her tell Matt, "You have 20 other girls downstairs eying [sic] for your attention, and do you think that I am a person that is, like, you know, waiting in the wings, and, like, would do this not to get to know you?" No, Shayne, he thinks you're a person who signed up for a show that has ALWAYS had 25 girls vying for the attention of one man — so suck it up. As Shayne admitted when she sulked after Chelsea got the group-date rose, "I'm used to getting my way. I'm used to getting a million roses." This is why I think Matt should trust his instincts — as opposed to his twig and berries, which believe stunning Shayne is beyond his level of attractiveness — and not trust her. She says she doesn't feel this way about anyone. That's because no man ever makes her chase him. Shayne assured Matt that she was there for him, and he kept her around despite insisting that the drama was a big turn-off. (Strike three.)

Ho'omaluhia Botanical Gardens

If you live on Oahu or are planning to visit I suggest camping for the weekend at this awesome botanical garden in Kaneohe. There are nature trails and a big pretty lake. It was hot and a little muggy so it was a downer to not have the beach to swim in. But next time we are bringing a slip N' slide! Fo real.

The Pierces, Prices, Thomanders, Loveridges, Johnstons and the Kessies all came to hang Friday night. Anna has always said she wanted to camp here and then we looked into it and it was free! It was really nice, clean safe and beautiful!

What do you do when you camp? You eat a Burger the size of your head!

Then you feed one to a cute little pregnant girl and see if she passes out.

We jammed for a while trying to keep up with Zanes amazing talent!

MAN MAKE FIRE.
Jesse has some mad skills (magic that is).

Elizabeth was very impressed by her dads skills.

Me and Dortilla

Corbin taught J all about the ways of fire.

Taylor tried to teach J to play the Ukulele but he wanted to eat.

So she laid him down for a snack.

Zanes crotch.... so artistic.

I dont know what this plant it called....

....this either

Thank you Kessie family for bringing us to a new, fun, and beautiful place on the island!

Fast and Testimony Meeting...

Today at church a cute little old man was visiting and related a recent experience he and his wife had to the 'Good Samaritan' story in the good ol' Bible. He and his wife were going to the Doctor together and neither saw a little step near the elevator. His wife fell down and scraped her knee and the husband said he was not strong enough to pick her up. A man came out of the elevator with a cast on his arm and immediately helped pick the wife up with his good arm. By this time in the story I was bawling in the back of church. The nice man helped them upstairs to the doctor, stayed with them the whole time, and walked them to their car. He even bought them a box of band-aids with some Neosporin Plus to help with the wife's scrapes. The husband and wife were so thankful that the nice man went out of his way to help them.

Then the little old husband went on the say that he lives in Utah and has laid his hands on the heads of many Prophets and Apostles in his life time. He used to work at a BARBER SHOP near Temple Square. I was cracking up!

I hope when I am older that the younger generation will help Chris and I if we fall instead taking our wallets!

Eel, it's what's for dinner.

When I first moved to Hawaii I was really annoyed with all of the people who were SO afraid to go play in the water because they were afraid a Shark would eat them. How many shark attacks have you really heard of and how many people go in the water everyday and are never bit? Come on!

But then some jerk ruined my life and told me that they were not afraid of sharks but that they were afraid an eel would bite them and latch on to their arm. I immediately adopted that fear right then and there and for the past 4 and a half years thought the worst thing that could ever happen would be to have an eel bite me in the water.

Have you ever seen their face up close...SCARY! No wonder Ariel was afraid of Ursula's helpers.

So anyway, I was surfing at Turtle Bay last night and I was pretty close to the reef shelf. I was laying on my board and this thing hops by my face and I sat up really fast. It slithered down my board and I started SCREAMING! My first thought was Blue Bubble tail (but this is too fat), no it's a Snake (no snakes in hawaii), then it's an EEL! get it off! My one true nightmare. As it slithered toward my crotch I started swinging my hands at it to keep it away. I felt a tug on my bathing suit and had visions of it going into my suit so I jumped off my board to safety. What safety? Now I have no idea where it is so I yanked my board towards me, jumped on it and rode the next wave to shore...shaking the whole way. It was a darker gray color with a hint of blue and maybe a foot long and as fat as a water hose, so I think the eels in the pictures (taken at Sharks Cove) are maybe what it looked like close up. I've heard some Hawaiians say that Turtles and sharks and other animals may be your ancestor come to protect you. No offense EEL, but if you are my ancestor...then I want protection from you!

And the ladies above have nothing to do with eels. I just wanted to catch your eye so you'd read my post!
